Colton’s reply came almost instantly.

Colton: I think you’re right. You need to share it with the Enforcers in the area too.

Killian groaned. He knew he was right, but he didn’t have to like it.

“Everything all right?” Scarlett peeked her head in from behind the door of his office.

He nodded before sending the picture to his brother and father with the same message he sent Colton. They needed to know. He knew his brother would be the one to relay the message to the Enforcers as well.

“Can I come in?” She hesitated by the door until he nodded. She slowly walked in and closed the door softly behind her. “Thank you for breakfast. It was still warm and a little messy.” Scarlett gestured to the powdered sugar evidence on her dark shirt.

“You’re welcome.” He smiled back at her.

She sat down in the chair across from his desk. “You like to draw?”

The door suddenly opened. “When did you see this?” Charles interrupted them. He was still looking down at his phone. When Killian didn’t respond, he looked up to see Scarlett. “Oh, Trix. How is everything?”

“Good. I’m waiting on my program to finish running to check on any holes in the progress.” She smiled back at him. “I should get going. Thanks again, Killian.” She smiled before standing up and leaving the two of them.

Was I interrupting something? You know she has work to do, Charles asked through the mental link they shared being in a pack.

He was no doubt waiting for her to be out of earshot before continuing to talk about things. Killian didn’t like communicating through the mental link. It felt like an invasion of privacy. He blocked it out when possible.

“What do you want, Charles?” Killian ignored his question about Scarlett.

“Dad already forwarded the message to Marie. The Enforcers were already staying in the French Quarter.” Charles crossed his arms. “Thank you for sharing that information with us. You know it’s important to take care of the Ripper as soon as possible. This is our home. Our people.”

“I know.” Killian rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair.

“About Trix,” Charles started.

Killian sat forward and looked at him.

“She’s supposedly the best of the best and we need her to finish her work. She doesn’t need any distractions. Let her do her work and be on her way.” Charles spoke as if it were an order.

Fucker! He can’t keep us from her. His wolf was close to the surface.

“Don’t make me get the Alpha to give a direct order, because I will. Leave her alone, Killian.” Charles's eyes glowed.

Killian could feel his own wolf getting close to the surface. “I won’t interrupt her work. Trust me, the last thing I want is her getting attached.” He gritted through his teeth.

Charles’s eyes went back to normal as his face softened. “I just don’t want you getting in over your head. We have this Ripper shit to deal with. We can’t afford any distractions. I need you to stay focused, Killian. We don’t need to bring her into this mess.
